Record Store Day Drop #2-September 26

Record Store Drop #2 is on Saturday September 26

To allow for social distancing and pandemic related requirements, they have separated Record Store Day into 3 Record Store Day Drops which will be the last Saturday of 3 months (August, September, October).  This will be followed with Record Store Day/Black Friday in November.

First, remember there are no pre-orders, hold requests, or online sales of any exclusive RSD title before the release date.

The full list of titles is available on recordstoreday.com.

We will post a list of available titles/prices at Pure Pop as the next week goes along.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 social distancing, we will not be able to operate Pure Pop like previous Record Store Days.  There will be no wish list drawing as in the past.  There will be no line outside.  People will be allowed in the store during allotted times to balance the need for social distancing and providing the opportunity for as many people as possible to get their desired title(s).

Before we get into the procedures for the morning at Pure Pop Record Store Day, please be aware that online/phone orders for RSD titles will be allowed starting at 1pm.  So if you are looking to get your favorite title at Pure Pop, keep this time in mind as customers from all over the USA will start buying these titles after 1pm.

How do I get my Record Store Day titles at Pure Pop?

Starting at 8 am, customers will be allowed in the store at scheduled time slots to purchase Record Store Day titles.  Desired titles will be collected by Pure Pop employees for the customer based on their filled-out wishlist.
No in-store browsing by customers will be allowed in the morning.  We are aware that not allowing physical browsing of the RSD titles is not ideal but we feel this is the best way to get all customers the titles they want in a safe, efficient manner.

To prevent a line forming outside the store, initial time slots will not be “first-come, first serve”.  Anyone arriving at Pure Pop front door before 7:30 AM will be given a raffle ticket.  We will then draw random raffle tickets to assign all initial time slots.  Anyone arriving at Pure Pop front door after 7:30 AM will be given a time slot in the order they arrive which will obviously be after all people in the raffle ticket lottery drawing.

8:00 AM- 9:20 AM
Customers will be allowed in the store at 4 minute time intervals
8:00, 8:04, 8:08 etc
No physical browsing of RSD inventory

9:20 AM-11:00 AM
Customers will be allowed in the store at 3 minute time intervals
No physical browsing of RSD inventory

After 11 AM, we will allow physical browsing of the RSD inventory.
Again, we will assign each person a time slot to try to avoid a physical line.

11:15 AM-til necessary
Customers will be assigned times in 6 minute intervals
Physical browsing of RSD inventory allowed

Titles will be available to purchase online at purepoprecords.com or via the phone at 802-658-2652 starting at 1pm.

Answers to possible questions:

Can I buy more than 1 copy of a title?
No, 1 copy per title per time slot

Do I have to buy everything I put on my wishlist?
No, we will give you everything that is still available on your wishlist to you.  You can decide what items you want to purchase.  Please be considerate and only list items that you are seriously thinking about purchasing.

Can I purchase titles I don’t put on my wishlist?
Yes, within reason.  We will work with you as much as possible without effecting the next customer’s time slot.

When can I go into the store to buy non-Record Store Day titles?
We will open to customers for non-RSD titles at 12:00 noon.

Do I have to come to the store in-person to get a scheduled time slot?
Yes, we decided that this was the best way to have social distancing but not have a lot of empty time slots with no-shows.

What if I am late for my scheduled time slot?
We will allow a 20 minute grace period, where you will be allowed to take your turn to purchase RSD titles

Do I have to go inside the store to purchase titles before the 1pm phone/online starts?
No, but you must be present in-person outside of our physical store to make a purchase/pick-up of record store day titles.

Will you be running a big sale on all non-RSD titles like previous Record Store Days?
Not in the store. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be prudent to run a sale that brought an influx of people to an enclosed space for 1 day only.  Actually, we will discount many titles on our website for the entire weekend to encourage people not interested in RSD titles to shop online to help prevent crowds.

Hope to see you on September 26.  Hopefully, we can provide you with titles you want in a safe, efficient and enjoyable manner.

Jarv Is-CIMS Handpicked Featured New Release

“Beyond the Pale” out now on cd/vinyl/transparent orange vinyl

After a legendary career as the enigmatic frontman for Pulp, and a successful run of solo albums and collaborations, Jarvis Cocker debuts his first new full length album since 2009 with musical project JARV IS…

________________________________________________________

“… Cocker is actually on prime, Pulp-level form on Beyond the Pale. Anyone pining for the arch twig-insect dandy of old, preening over driving beats and gyrating to wayward early electronics, will find much to love on this album.”

Arca-CIMS Handpicked Featured New Release

“KiCk i” is out now on vinyl

Arca is one of the world’s most transformative musical talents. Since breaking through with her 2012 EPs Stretch 1 and Stretch 2, she’s created an unprecedented body of work drawing from club music, experimental noise, and the ballad tradition of her native Venezuela, while reaching beyond music to encompass performance, visual art, and technology. As a collaborator with Björk, Kanye West, and FKA twigs, she’s stretched contemporary music’s sonic boundaries and helped set the sound of her era. As a Latinx nonbinary trans woman, she’s redefined the role of the diva for a new generation. Her latest work is KiCk i, the first in a series of upcoming works, each with its own sonic theme. For the first installment, KiCk i, Arca pursues pleasure, dignity, and dance floor liberation by refracting club music, reggaetón, and pop through her radical vision.

—————————————————————————————————-

“In Arca’s world, playfulness has long intertwined with terror, rigidity with fluidity, human existence with cyborg life, abrasiveness with gentleness. These contrasts have defined Alejandra Ghersi’s earliest co-productions for Kanye West and FKA twigs”,… read full review by Max Freedman on pastemagazine.com

Yaeji-CIMS Handpicked Featured New Release

New Release by Yaeji, part House, part Pop, part HipHop producer.

purchase yellow vinyl edition, here

‘What We Drew’ is titled intentionally; the project is as much indebted to her own singular creative vision as it is to her network of close-knit collaborators and friends, a team she’s described as a “family business.” She’s inspired by both Korean indie rock and electronica that she listened to as a teenager in Seoul as well as late ’90s and early 2000s hip hop and R&B and in her first full-length release. While entirely self-produced, she’s careful to classify it as a mixtape, which belies the way that these songs came together: “Each track is almost like a snippet of my life, a look into my diary or something, where it’s reflective of how I was specifically feeling during that time.”

“Yaeji’s first full-length mixtape is a subtle, more insular turn for the producer. It plays like a self-issued challenge to strip away the fluorescence, to find what’s underneath pop catharsis.” Read full review by Stacey Anderson on Pitchfork
